WINTER WEDDING
THEMES:

Fairy Tale Theme
Wedding
For
those who wants something fun and
whimsical
If you have
more whimsical tastes, there are plenty of fun theme weddings
that can be done in the winter that don’t work at any other
time of the year. One of the most fun and whimsical winter
wedding themes is a Jack Frost/Fairy fantasy theme wedding.
Usually, this theme works best in the dead of winter, when
everyone is sick and tired of the cold and snow and could use a
reminder of how magical the winter can be.
The Jack
Frost/Fairy theme can also be used in early December, just
before everyone starts gearing up for the Christmas holidays.
For this theme, having snow and ice is a requirement so you’ll
need to hold the wedding and reception somewhere where it will
be cold and snowy. If you’ve ever wanted to be a fairy princess
this is the wedding theme for you!
For a Jack
Frost/Fairy theme wedding, think of all the sparkle and whimsy
of winter. Colors should be cool blues, pale purples, silver,
and, of course, white. There should be sparkles everywhere! To
decorate the church or wedding hall, cover anything that stands
still in white satin with sparkly silver
ribbons.
Flowers should
be cool colored. White roses and calla lilies with baby’s
breath make a beautiful bridal bouquet. To decorate the church
and to add color to the bridal bouquet or hall, use white and
pale purple carnations or white and pale purple roses. Lavender
roses can be difficult to find, but are stunning when used in a
bridal bouquet.
Keep your
dress soft and gauzy, appropriate for a fairy princess. A
corseted dress with layers of chiffon covered in silver
embroidery is a beautiful choice for a Jack Frost/Fairy theme
wedding. Have the men dress in fairy costume style clothing if
you can get them to agree to it, but since most fairy costumes
involve tights they might not be too agreeable to that. If they
refuse the fairy finery, choose classic tuxedos with silver or
purple vests.
Dress your
attendants in gauzy, flowing gowns in lavender and pale blue
with long flowing sleeves and sweetheart necklines. Since it
will be cold, they will appreciate the long sleeves. If it’s
too cold, have a silver or white shawl for yourself and
lavender or blue shawls for your attendants. Pashmina shawls
are beautiful, very light, and very warm and are a great choice
for a winter wedding.
Jewelry should
be silver or diamonds, and you and your bridesmaids can wear
some light body glitter or wear some shimmering body powder to
give your skin an ethereal look and be sure to keep the makeup
light and pale. Teardrop diamond earrings or pretty diamond
necklaces that could be worn during the ceremony would make
lovely bridesmaids gifts, if you can afford them. You should
wear a delicate headpiece, like a tiara or a wreath of
roses.
Decorating the
reception hall for a Jack Frost/Fairy theme wedding is lots of
fun. Make sure that the reception hall has lots of windows. If
there is no real ice to coat the windows, buy spray on ice from
a craft store that can be sprayed on windows and walls to give
an ice effect. Cover the walls with white paper and spray the
fake ice on the walls, or draw murals on the paper to give the
effect of being inside an ice castle.
Make
snowflakes out of tin foil or foil paper and hang them from the
ceiling. Definitely have an ice sculpture or two and maybe a
champagne fountain as well. Placing some Victorian gazing balls
throughout the room will add color and reflect light. For the
children, set up a “kid’s area” with lots of paper, crayons or
markers, coloring books, and a portable DVD player along with
some fun animated movies.
Since you are
creating the feeling of ice and cold, make sure that there is a
“hot drink bar” with lots of different gourmet hot chocolates,
teas, and coffees along with delicate snacks like ladyfingers
or tea cookies where family and friends can make hot chocolate,
tea, and coffee to warm up. If the reception hall has a
fireplace, make sure there is a blazing fire for anyone who
gets cold. To decorate the tables, use lots of sparkling
crystal and sprinkle glitter everywhere. White or silver
floating candles in crystal bowls of water will add to the
“ice” effect. For unique wedding favors put edible
silver-coated Jordan almonds in shimmer bags with a drawstring
top along with small containers of silver, purple and blue
confetti – little snowflake shapes work wonderfully. The guests
can shower the bride and groom with the confetti during their
first dance.
A Jack
Frost/Fairy theme wedding isn’t right for everyone, but people
who have whimsical or unique tastes can make a unique wedding
that perfectly fits their personalities, on a budget, by using
the Jack Frost/Fairy winter wedding theme. It can be a nice
alternative for people who don’t want their wedding to be just
like everyone else’s and really want to have a wedding that
reflects their own tastes and shows off their unique
personalities.
A Jack
Frost/Fairy theme wedding is also a great choice for a winter
wedding because it incorporates a lot of elements of the season
and can be easily done on a budget if money is a concern for
the bride and groom. People who live in a snowy or cold place
where it’s snowy and cold most of the year can have a lot of
fun by incorporating that into their wedding with a Jack
Frost/Fairy wedding theme. To really make it fun, make it a
costume wedding and encourage guests to wear their own fairy
costumes.
